The Digital Studio is located on Level 1 of Yarrila Place, next to the Young Adult Library. The production computers and recording booth can be booked by library members for personal use or for group workshops.

The Digital Studio encompasses a recording booth, 10 x production computers, Rodecaster Pro-Podcast Suite, AV presentation screen, green screen, photography backdrop, studio lighting & stop-motion rig. Explore endless creative possibilities, whether it’s for music, podcasting, film production, design, photography or much more, the well-equipped space is ideal for unleashing artistic visions!

What's in the Digital Studio?

 

Recording Booth

For music makers, the recording studio is equipped with vocal microphones, guitars, bass, and percussion, all connected to a Mac Studio running Audacity and Ableton Live. Our Mac Studios also have Roland Midi-Keyboards and Launchpad Mini [MK3] set up for music production and mixing. Suitable also for podcasting, audio book creation and oral history recording.

Additionally, if you are looking to record a song, Digital Studio staff can connect you to local audio engineers who can help you create a complete master track.

Production Computers

There are 6 Apple computers and 4 PCs, all running Adobe Creative Suite, Ableton Live and video editing software, providing a fantastic platform to explore audio engineering, photography, design, or even create a short film or documentary.

Aspiring XR, AR, gaming and 3D designers can access computers that will allow them to build their own universes and alternate realities.

For specialised video production needs, there is a green screen along with studio lighting and a backdrop for studio photography.

Software manuals are available to be borrowed from the library and are a great way to teach yourself how to use software available on the computers in the Digital Studio.

How do I hire the Digital Studio?

To book the studio you will need to:

  • become a Coffs Harbour Libraries member
  • be aged 16+
  • complete a Digital Studio induction
  • Persons up to 15 years can use the space if booked by a parent/guardian and supervised by an adult throughout.

To get started, you need to:

  1. Become a Library Member
  2. Fill out the Digital Studio Induction form
  3. Book an in-studio induction (link provided after form is received)
  4. Read through the Terms and Conditions(PDF, 83KB) for hiring the studio

Once you have completed your induction, you will be able to book the Digital Studio by emailing culturaldevelopment@chcc.nsw.gov.au

Cost

Community: Free
Commercial: Bookings are capped at $120 per hour. Fees vary based on the activity, booking frequency, and required facilities.

Session Times
Sessions can be booked in 1hour increments for up to 3 hours per day, unless arranged otherwise.
