Local newspapers index
The Newspaper Index is a selective index to the Coffs Coast Advocate newspaper.
The index contains citations only and some records also provide a brief abstract.
When you find an article you are interested in, you can use the Coffs Harbour Library's microfilm/fiche reader to view the relevant copy of the Coffs Harbour Advocate.
The following articles and notices are indexed:
- features
- editorials
- letters
- obituaries
- birth notices
- death notices
The following articles and notices are NOT indexed:
- advertisements
- marriage notices
- daily weather reports
- classifieds and similar
To search The Newspaper Index, simply choose the "Newspaper Index" option from the quick-find drop-down menu of the Library Catalogue before searching.

Background:
The Library received grant funds from the Library Council of NSW which enabled it to comprehensively index this newspaper from May 1993 to 2003.
In 2009, more than a thousand additional index records were added for significant feature articles on a broad range of topics, dating back to around 1900.
