Justices of the Peace (JPs) are volunteers appointed by the Governor of New South Wales. The role of the Justice of the Peace (JP) is to act as an independent and objective witness to documents people use for official or legal purposes.
Generally JPs:
- witness oaths or affidavits
- take statutory declarations and affirmations
- witness signatures
- attest the execution of a document
- certify a true copy of an original document
Coffs Harbour Libraries offers free volunteer Justice of the Peace services at the following branches and times.
Harry Bailey Memorial Library - Level 2
Tuesdays 10.30am to 1.30pm
Wednesdays 10.30am to 1.30pm
Woolgoolga Library
Wednesdays 11am to 1pm
No bookings are required. There is a limit of 10 documents to be certified in a session.
