Digital Creative Homeschool Program

Term 1 - Design for Teens (Ages 12 – 16)

Every Tuesday* from Feb 11 - April 8 ( 2pm – 4pm )

*except March 4th

Over 8 weeks students will learn skills in photography, illustration & layout design through the creation of a collaborative booklet to be published. The subject of the booklet will be the diverse habitats found in our local Botanical Gardens. Students will be instructed on various Adobe programs including Lightroom, Fresco, Photoshop and Indesign.

As an introduction to other media we will use 2 sessions to learn about video making and its role in digital communication. Towards the end of the term we will adapt our publication into a short video using the Adobe Premiere video editing program.

The Digital Creative Homeschool Program is an innovative, creative-technology driven learning environment for school aged students. Weekly workshops are facilitator led, nature inspired and focused on building skills in creative industries, STEM, digital literacy, and career readiness. The Digital Studio at Yarrila Place has resources and the nurturing environment for older children to explore and engage with their passions.

Inspired by nature, informed by science

Our programs team is made up of teachers, ecologists, practising artists and creative industry professionals working in close collaboration to bring innovative workshops and programs to the Coffs community.

The Digital Studio collaborates with local organisations such as the North Coast Botanical Gardens and Marine Science Centre and we value the importance of nature connection in our screen dominated world, particularly for the well-being of young people. Our programs are inspired by nature and informed by science, where young people can learn about nature and ecology and how to communicate their experiences and knowledge creatively using digital media technologies.
