From fluorescent bugs and backyard discoveries to surreal local photography and the return of our hugely popular Awesome Animations series, this spring's holiday workshops transform the everyday into the extraordinary for school kids of all ages.
Kids Flicks: Strike (the movie)
Our next school holiday movie is Strike (G) a fun, family‑friendly animated adventure. Follow Mungo, a young mole who dreams of becoming a soccer star instead of working in the family gold mine. When his hometown needs help, Mungo sets out on a quest to win the Wild Cup and prove that following your passion can change everything. Bring your own water bottle and snacks!

Code Kids!
These school holidays, the library becomes a mini game studio. Kids will learn the basics of coding, explore Scratch and create a simple game where each level hides a sneaky little bug to find. It’s hands‑on, creative and designed to spark curiosity. A fun way for kids to dip into the world of tech, puzzles, build life skills and discovering how things work. Create, code and discover at your library!

Note: To save their coding projects, children will need a Scratch account which will require an email address. We will do this together during the sessions, however parents and guardians are encouraged to stay and support their child during setup and throughout the session.

Think bugs are creepy? Think again! Join science communicator and TEDx speaker Steven Gill for a fast-paced, funny and fascinating adventure into the incredible world of insects and citizen science. Discover why bugs are some of Australia's most important animals, how everyday people are helping scientists uncover new species, and why your own backyard could hold remarkable discoveries.

Make Some Music with MEMO
Come and learn to make music in a music studio during the school holidays. Facilitated by local musician and conservatorium teacher Memo Beltzer, this fun half day workshop will be a mix of songwriting, composition, recording & audio engineering with Logic Pro (apple) encouraging a burst of creativity with music!

Awesome Animation
On again by popular demand! Come try your hand at the popular genre of stop motion Lego animation. Unleash your creativity by building an original LEGO® creation and bringing it to life through stop-motion animation. Our instructor will guide you through the technical skills needed to set up a mini filming studio using an iPad and stop-motion rig.
