Celebrate Library & Information Week by discovering everything your local library has to offer during Open Doors, Open Books, Open Minds at Harry Bailey Memorial Library on Thursday 30 July 2026.
As part of a coordinated statewide Library Open Day, you're invited to explore the spaces, services and experiences that make our library so much more than a place to borrow books. Whether you're curious about what happens behind the scenes, interested in creative technology, or looking for engaging activities for young children, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Behind-the-Scenes Library Tours
Have you ever wondered what happens beyond the public shelves? Join one of our special guided tours and discover the hidden side of Harry Bailey Memorial Library. Visit the Cataloguing and Home Library Service areas, explore the fascinating Local History and Memory Room, and see the creative opportunities available in our Digital Studio.
Location: Meet on the Ground Floor, Harry Bailey Memorial Library, Yarrila Place
Step into the Digital Studio and discover a space designed for creativity, learning and experimentation. Drop in throughout the day to explore professional-quality equipment including recording and podcasting studios, a green screen, photography backdrop, studio lighting, stop-motion equipment, musical instruments and industry-standard Mac and PC software.
Whether you're an experienced creator or simply curious to see what's possible, everyone is welcome.
Time: 10am - 3pm (drop in anytime)

Baby Rhyme Time
Introduce your little one to the joy of books, songs and language through this fun and interactive session. Baby Rhyme Time encourages early literacy through rhymes, finger plays, action songs and simple stories designed especially for babies and their carers.
Suitable for children aged 0-2 years.
Location: Story Space, Ground Floor, Harry Bailey Memorial Library
No bookings are required.
Little Bookworms
Children aged 5-8 years are invited to enjoy an afternoon of stories, laughter and imagination. After story time, participants will create their own personalised bookmark to take home and enjoy with their next great read.
