Join the Library

Anyone can join the library, including local organisations.

There is no minimum age for joining.

How to join

Step 1.Have proof of residence and identity

You will need identification showing your current address to present in person or to fill in the online form. We accept:

  • Drivers licence
  • Health care concession card
  • Lease agreement
  • Rates notice
  • Electoral enrolment card
  • Utility account notice (eg. Telstra, Optus, Essentail Energy, bank statement) along with a credit card or Medicare card

You will also need to give us your contact details.

Step 2.Join

It's free to join, although some people from out of area may need to pay a refundable cash deposit.

Parents or guardians must accompany children under 18 years to join in person. You can join the library without a parent or guardian if you are 16 years and over and living independently.

Join in person at any of our locations

You will be issued a library card when you join in person.

Join online

If you join online, you will be issued a library card when you next come into the library in person. If you want to start using the library's online services before you come in, you will need to contact us and ask us to activate your account.

Step 3.Tell us your notification preferences

You can choose whether to receive notices about overdue items and items available for pickup by post, email or SMS (mobile phone).

Let us know your preference or set this up yourself using your online account.

Step 4.Set up your online account

Once you're a member you have the option to use an online 'My details' account to:

  • Check due dates
  • Renew your loans
  • Manage your reservations
  • Set up an 'alert profile' to receive emails when new materials arrive at the library that match your interests
  • View payments for any charges (we don't charge late fees but we do charge for lost or damaged items and inter-library loans)

Step 5.Check our lending conditions

Find information about loan periods and limits and our policies about things like overdue, lost and damaged items and library cards.
