The library holds a number of handbooks and self-help guides for both the beginner and more knowledgeable family history researcher.

• Ancestry Library Edition - Note: this resource is available for in-library use only!
• Archives Resources Kit (ARK) - Coffs Harbour Library is a Community Access Point for NSW State Records Archives Resources Kit (ARK). This includes 1,565 microform copies.
• Births, Deaths and Marriages Indexes - it is recommended you make an appointment to access these resources.
• Find My Past - Note: this resource is available for in-library use only!

• Coffs Harbour Historic Cemetery [electronic resource] / Jan Arnett and Jan Buckingham for the Coffs Harbour Heritage Trust
• Australian Cemeteries Index  - includes local cemetery records for: Coffs Harbour Historic, Caring Lawn, Woolgoolga, Bucca, Coramba, and Corindi. These contain both inscriptions and images of headstones.

Local history

Family historians will find more useful resources in our local history section.  

You can join the local Family History Society to use the research room, meet others with similar interests, share local knowledge and find links to places and families that you have yet to discover. The society also provides a for-fee research service.
