Librarian and a child at National Simultaneous Storytime 2022

‘It started with a seed, and that seed was me..’ so begins Family Tree written by Josh Pyke and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh, a picture book that celebrates the connections we make as we build family and community through the process of growing up. Over 50 children and carers shared this and other stories during our National Simultaneous Storytime celebrations at Harry Bailey Memorial Library.

The theme for the day was celebrating family and how our differences make us who we are. In Family written by Aunty Fay Muir and Sue Lawson and illustrated by Jasmine Seymour we explored First Nations culture and connection to Country, the power of story and song, and the meaning of heart and home.

Our final story was We Are All People written by Zanni Louise and illustrated by Sinead Hanley- a joyful celebration of difference and all the important things that unite humanity.
