Our heritage services

What's in the local heritage collection?

Find out by browsing the library catalogue​ for the special collection of Local Studies material held in Coffs Harbour. Items are not for loan.

 

  • Clientele: primarily local and family history researchers, students and writers.
  • Scope: all materials relating to the history of Coffs Harbour and towns in the local government area; current council reports and documents which will become part of our history; materials written by local writers; as well as ​​family histories of local families only and memoirs with significant reference to the Coffs region. 
  • Location: all materials are located in the Coffs Harbour City Library, with some specific works at Toormina and Woolgoolga libraries. 
  • Formats: all formats collected. 
  • Criteria: all material possible is collected, and is complemented by the Regional Museum's research files of people, places and events.
  • Weeding/retention: no material is weeded. 
  • Future Plans: depending on the availability of funds and space in which to locate the collection, a systematic program of acquisition, conservation and preservation will be undertaken.
