The Sustainable Living Collection was funded as part of Council's Rigby House Solar Panel Project, via grants from the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change, and Water's 'Climate Change Fund Public Facilities Program', to assist with community education.

The collection was officially launched on Wednesday 13 October 2010.
