Troubleshooting

Some Internet users have experienced problems when attempting to access PIN/password authenticated areas of the Library's web services (eg. Reserving an item on the Library Catalogue or logging into My Details to renew on-loan items, etc.).

Browser Settings

To successfully access all areas of the Library's online catalogue and web services, users should ensure that their web browsers (eg. Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc.) are enabled for cookies and javascript.

Problem Software

A known issue causing problems when accessing authenticated areas of the Library's web services is the use of Internet Security or Firewall software on a user's computer. In particular the Symantec product, Norton Internet Security, that is often distributed with Windows computers appears to deny access if enabled! Norton Internet Security users can use the short-term fix of disabling the software temporarily when accessing problem areas on our site. Then they should re-enable the software when finished.
