 Library Google Gadget

Google Desktop SidebarDownload the My Library Gadget to your desktop and then you can then search the library catalogue, view your loans, messages, alerts, reservations, history details, and your ratings and comments.

You will need to have the Google Desktop installed to use the My Library Gadget, as it is a Google Gadget on the Google Sidebar. The Google Desktop may be downloaded from http://desktop.google.com. See 'Google Desktop News' at the bottom of this page.

Install

Download the My Library Gadget from http://gg.spydus.com/Spydus.gg.

When prompted click Open to load the file to your Google desktop.

Setup

Click the drop down arrow on the gadget and select Options,
then select: 'AUS: NSW Coffs Harbour City Library'.

Options setup on gadget

Enter your library card number as the User ID and your PIN/password. You only have to do this once - the gadget will remember your login even if the computer is switched off. If you do not wish the gadget to remember your login, go back to the Options screen and clear your User ID and PIN when you have finished using the gadget. The Refresh Rate is the amount of time before the Gadget returns to the Quick Search page.

Using the Gadget

The gadget has a search box to search the catalogue, and buttons for Alerts, Loans, Messages, Reservations, History and Other. A green dot appears on the button if it is active. If you use one of the buttons to access your account (which automatically logs you in), then do a search of the catalogue, you will not have to enter your user ID and PIN when placing reservations.

Google Desktop News
On 02 Sep 2011, Google announced that "as of September 14 (2011), Google Desktop will no longer be available for download, and existing installations will not be updated to include new features or fixes." - see their full blog post.

So unfortunately our Library Google Gadget may only have a limited future!
